Use Portion Control to Lose Weight and Be Healthy
To be healthy means maintaining a modicum of self-control in what and how much you eat. Portion control is easily one of most underused and best ways to lose weight. For one thing, portion will help curb snacking during odd hours of the night. Those late-night cravings for chocolate and cookies can easily be stomped out by controlling how much you eat in a single sitting. The trick is to eat more than four to five meals every 2-3 hours. Most people stuff themselves until they are full; do not do that. There is a difference between being no longer hungry and being full; you want to eat until you are no longer hungry. Small portions can easily reach this point and as you get into the habit of eating controlled portions you will be able to stop wanting to fill your stomach to capacity as often as you may used to.
Another benefit of portion control eating is its ability to boost metabolism. Whenever you eat, your body ramps up its metabolism in order to digest the food and convert the calories into energy. By eating a handful of small meals every couple of hours your metabolism will be working at a very steady pace. This, in conjunction with eating healthy foods, will make your goal of having a leaner, trimmer figure that much more achievable.
